WHY PSYCHOANALYSIS?

'Slips of the tongue, bungled actions, and symptoms are like birds that come and tap their beaks on the window. It is not a question of “interpreting” them. It is a question of situating their trajectory to see whether they are in a position to serve as indicators of new universes of reference that could acquire sufficient consistency to bring about a radical change in the situation.'

Félix Guattari, in Molecular Revolution in Brazil

Psychoanalysis is a clinical approach that originated in the work of Dr. Sigmund Freud and has been shaped by practitioners of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, who continue in his tradition while also updating his work to this day.

The central element of this approach is the dynamic unconscious, which is understood to play a significant role in the development of various psychological and psychosomatic symptoms and forms of distress.

Psychoanalysis is a talking treatment in which you are invited to speak openly, in a safe and non-judgemental space, about your experiences.

The aim of this treatment is to attend to repetitions, patterns, inhibitions, and symptomatic signs that cause suffering. In this way, a path toward a more fulfilling life can be carved collaboratively between patient and analyst.

This is not a 'one-size-fits-all' approach, and while we may talk about what is making you suffer, there are no expectations of normalcy or adaptation.

Rather, this clinical orientation pays attention to singularity—to the contextual and social aspects of your experience—and aims to weave new, creative forms of living.

Psychoanalysis welcomes people from all backgrounds who may be experiencing anxiety, depression, or overthinking. It also welcomes those facing a novel or challenging life moment—such as starting a family, coping with a loss, or making a significant choice. This approach is also suitable for those dealing with trauma, psychosis, eating disorders, questions around identity or sexuality, a sense of existential unease, or even for those who wish to examine their lives for reasons they can't quite name.

This is an open space for anyone who wishes to speak about their experiences and to begin weaving new fabrics of life.

“Et l'inconscient c'est ça, c'est la face de Réel… peut-être que vous avez une idée - après m'avoir entendu de nombreuses fois - peut-être que vous avez une idée de ce que j'appelle le Réel …c'est la face de Réel de ce dont on est empêtré”

J.Lacan in Lesson of 10th of January, 1978. Seminar XXV ‘Le Moment de Conclure’.
